Cougars fall to #2 Indiana Wesleyan in Crossroads League matchup

SPRING ARBOR, MI – Sometimes things are better left unsaid, but there are times when you just have to say it; Indiana Wesleyan's women's basketball team is really good.  The Wildcats visited Spring Arbor on Saturday afternoon and left with a convincing 83-46 win over the Cougars in a Crossroads League Matchup pitting the Cougars against the #2 ranked team from Hoosier land.

Spring Arbor played the Wildcats tough and held their own on the boards, but the IWU's defensive pressure was a bit too much for the Cougars and held them to just 20 points in the first half.  The Wildcats hit a long range 3-pointer at the buzzer as the first half ended with IWU up 43-20.

The second half, much like the first, didn't give the Cougars a lot of opportunities to stage a comeback and Indiana Wesleyan (17-0, 5-0) would cruise to the finish with an 83-46 League win.

"This is one of the best Indiana Wesleyan teams I've seen," said Head Coach Ryan Frost.  "They move the ball very well, and they hit the open shots."

Aimee Konkel and Jenna Jamieson led Spring Arbor with nine points each.  Konkel from the outside hitting three 3-pointers, and Jamieson from the inside hitting four of six shots from the field.

Carlie Newman dished out five assists for Spring Arbor.

The Cougars fall to 6-11 and 0-5 in CL action and will travel to Huntington University on Tuesday, January 8 for a 7:00 matchup against the Foresters.  Huntington, ranked #23 in the latest NAIA poll was upset 63-61 by Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday and now stands at 9-6, 2-3.
