SPRING ARBOR, MI ? It was Senior Day for the Volleyball team at Spring Arbor University and the Cougars honored the careers of Gabby Corwin, Tenille Marowelli, and Alyssa Frees.? Unfortunately, Spring Arbor was unable to send off their seniors with a win as the Maple Leafs won the match in four sets 25-15, 25-13, 23-25, 25-21.
Lyndsay Murray was all over the court on the defensive end as she led all players in the match with 18 digs. Rebekah Kujat paced Spring Arbor with 10 kills.
"We made some adjustments in the third set, putting Tenille back at the offensive helm," said Head Coach, Carol Gates.? "Our defensive specialists came up big for us all day and gave us dug ball opportunities.? The Defensive stance was led by Gabby Corwin, Lyndsay Murray and Betsy Granger.? Offensively, Alyssa Frees and Bekah Kujat led the charge.? This team has a fighting spirit and that was evident in their ability to make adjustments in the third and fourth set that gave us an advantage over Goshen. This young team is gaining valuable experience this season and is responding well. Wins will not be the measure of this team's success this year.? The success comes in their commitment to keep Christ at the center of their season and growing in their roles on the team."
Spring Arbor has one game remaining in the Crossroads League and will travel to Indianapolis, IN to face Marian University on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00.? After that, the Cougars will participate in the Cornerstone University Tournament for four matches on October 25-26 and then finish the campaign at Davenport University on November second.
