Volleyball falls in final matches, takes away a lot of positives for the season

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A long season came to an end for the Spring Arbor University Volleyball team Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids with the Cougars competing in a Quad Tournament playing to West Side power house teams, Davenport University and Aquinas College.  The Cougars lost both in straight sets and finished the season with a 5-28 record.

The Cougars didn't go down without a fight as they battled Aquinas tough in all three sets.

"This team has battled through adversity and continues to show heart for the game and love for each other," said Coach Carol Gates.  "That is a rare combination to find when the world's view of success only comes in your wins.  You cannot measure what this team has accomplished in typical stats.  But what I can say is that the gains will propel them to success in seasons to come and more importantly in life. "

The cougars final matches were cornerstones by 3 amazing seniors: Tenille Marowelli, Alyssa Frees and Gabby Corwin.  These three players went out on individual highs, continuing to push the tempo of the game and create opportunities for team success to the last ball played.
