Lady Cougar's comback effort falls short at Goshen

GOSHEN, IN – Spring Arbor made a strong bid for a comeback against Goshen College on the road on Saturday afternoon, pulling to within one (66-67) with 1:39 left in the game, but just could not cross the finish line as the Cougars fell to the Maple Leafs 78-69 in a Crossroads League match up.

Three Cougars ended the game with double figure led by Alex Glenn with 14 points.  Glenn hit all three of her long range attempts, three of four from the line, and one of seven from inside the arc for her points.

Both Jessica Garrison and Carlie Newman scored 13 points for Spring Arbor.  All of Newman's points came in the second half.

The Cougars trailed the Maple Leafs by  eight points at the break and started the comeback with 7:10 remaining in the second period.  Down by 10, 48-58, Newman connected on a 3-pointer followed by Aimee Konkel's trey a minute later and the Cougars were only down by four points with 5:29 left in the game.

On two separate occasions, the Cougars would pull within one point of the lead but just couldn't catch Goshen, who scored 11 of the games last 14 points to close out the Cougars 78-69.

Spring Arbor falls to 9-19 on the year, and 3-13 in the Crossroads League while Goshen picks up their first League win to improve to 3-25, and 1-15.
