Volleyball loses to St. Xavier, defeats Trinity International

CHICAGO, IL – The windy city brought yet, another day of 'you win some, and lose some' for the Spring Arbor University Volleyball team as they split the two games in front of them for the day.  Game one was against the host school, St. Xavier and the Cougars lost in straight sets 22-25, 17-25, 19-25, but then came back later in the day to defeat Trinity International 25-23, 25-16, 25-20.

"We finished our weekend 2-2", said Coach, Carol Gates.  "After a slow start to the day with a loss against St. Xavier, we recovered to take the win against Trinity International.  St. Xavier gave us trouble with strong middle attacks that kept us on the defense vs. the Trinity match where defensive command allowed our offense to be aggressive.  Alyssa Frees and Rebekah Kujat continued to lead the Cougar offense with 23 and 16 kills respectively.  Tenille Marowelli set a strategically strong offensive compiling 61 assists on the day, and Lyndsay Murray posted 42 digs."

"We finished our preseason on goal with a .500 record, playing the strong teams this weekend will help prepare us for conference starting on Wednesday against IWU," continued Gates.  This team is growing and adjusting with each match they play."

For the season, the Cougars are 4-4 and will open the Crossroads League season on Tuesday, September 4 on the road at Indiana Wesleyan University at 7:00
