SPRING ARBOR, MI -- Spring Arbor University volleyball batlled the Taylor University Trojans hard for four sets but eventually fell to the visiting squad by the sscores of 25-22, 20-25, 17-25, 15-25. The loss set the Cougars back to 1-5 in the Crossroads League and 5-9 overall.
"We came out strong and in control in the first set, putting Taylor University on their heels," said Coach Carol Gates. "They were not expecting us to come out on the attack. As a team, the effort was united and that allowed us to push Taylor into predictable patterns that we could defend and remain offensive with. The second set was a battle from behind that the cougars almost overcame, being down 3-10 and fighting back into the set. The team showed a lot of heart and determination in set 2; this team is learning to play strings of points that will propel us into wins in the future. Set three and four found the cougars behind again with but they refused to relent, challenging Taylor on all fronts and forcing the Trojans to earn points."
Spring Arbor will host Marian Unversity on Wednesday night for a 7:00 match.
