Women's Soccer Notches Third Consecutive Shutout

Senior Brooklyn Morgan made her presence felt Wednesday evening as the Spring Arbor University women's soccer team notched their third consecutive shutout in a 2-0 victory over visiting Aquinas College, who entered the match with a 3-1 record.

Morgan knocked home a pass from fellow senior Karly Linton in the 11th minute of play for what would turn out to be the game winning tally and her fourth goal of the 2013 campaign, which is good for second on the SAU roster.

In a physical contest that saw the visiting Saints out-foul the home Cougars 17-7, Morgan helped to provide some insurance for the lead in the second half as she was a part of a double assist that padded the Cougar's lead at 2-0.  Sophomore Nikki Bonnema beat her marker around the end line and laid a ball back to Morgan who cleverly touched it across the face of goal to freshman Rachel Shive at the back post.  Shive left no doubt as she blasted the freebie past Saints goalkeeper Molly O'Connor for the insurance.

Spring Arbor out-shot the visitors 21-8 in the contest.  Sophomore goalkeeper and NAIA Defensive Player of the Week Sarah Yancer picked up two saves to earn the shutout.

Ninth ranked Spring Arbor (6-2-1) will kick off Crossroads League loop play on Saturday when they make the trek to Mount Vernon Nazarene University to take on the the MVNU Cougars in a 2:00 p.m. tilt.  A live stream of the game can be found here: MVNU Live Broadcast
