Volleyball drops a pair of matches over the weekend.

GOSHEN, IN – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team suffered a pair of losses over the weekend but continues to show that they can compete in the Crossroads League by not bowing out easy in either match.  The Cougars fell to St Francis on Friday night 22-25, 23-25, 23-25 and battled with Goshen College on Saturday afternoon before falling to the Maple Leafs in five sets, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 9-15.

"We are emerging strong early in the sets, but our execution in the last 10 points of the match is  where we falter," said Head Coach, Carol Gates.  "We are gaining experience in how to play in the close matches and more importantly, how to not play mentally tight.  This team will surprise a lot of programs in the second round of league play.  They are finding their tempo and how to make quicker match adjustments.  Success will be had by this young squad; they are determined."

The Lady Cougars will have more than a week to regroup and rest before they travel to Sylvania, OH for a non-conference match with Lourdes University on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:00 pm.
