MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team dropped a Crossroads League match in straight sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) at Bethel College on Wednesday night.
After falling in the opening set, the Cougars looked to battle back and grabbed an 11-7 lead early in the second frame. However, the Pilots would rally to even the score at 12-12 before ending the set on a 13-6 run to take a commanding two sets to none lead. Bethel would carry that momentum into the third set and seal the victory.
Sophomore Rebekah Kujat finished with six kills followed by freshman Olivia Landis with five. Freshman setter Gabrielle Hilliard handed out nine helpers while classmate Leah Rose served up a pair of aces. Rose also added a team-high 18 digs.
Spring Arbor will travel to Grand Rapids on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Aquinas College/Cornerstone University Classic. The Cougars will open the tournament with matches against Cornerstone and Siena Heights on Friday before taking on Lawrence Tech and Aquinas on Saturday.
