SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team defeated Olivet College 7-2 on Thursday afternoon in its final tune-up for the Crossroads League Tournament.
With the win, Spring Arbor improved to 5-4 on the season while Olivet fell to 1-3 overall.
In doubles, senior Quincy Banini and sophomore Monika Wynne posted a convincing 8-3 win at No. 1 while junior Mary-Kate McShane and freshman Emily Joseph blanked their opponents 8-0 at No. 2. Olivet narrowly edged the pair of Brianna VanRavenswaay and Alyssa Bart 9-8 (7-2) at No. 3 doubles to avoid the sweep.
The Cougars continued their strong play in singles winning five of the six matches.
The Crossroads League Tournament is set to begin with the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The semifinals will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 with the championship match slated for Saturday, Oct. 10.
