SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball gave one of the top teams in the nation all it could handle inside a raucous SAU Fieldhouse on Wednesday night, but the No. 24 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats would manage to escape with a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19) victory over the Cougars.
Spring Arbor held the high-powered Indiana Wesleyan offense in check for most of the night with the incredible play of its defense. The Cougars recorded 79 digs, led by senior libero Kayleigh Bytwerk's 22, while also posting 12 blocks. Sophomore Courtney Kyser registered four rejections and senior Emily Verhage added three.
Junior Rebekah Kujat led the offensive effort with a match-high 15 kills while sophomores Leah Rose and Olivia Landis followed with nine and six. In addition to her 13 digs, freshman Kasey Follis dished out 22 assists to earn her fifth double-double of the season.
