SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team rolled to an 84-28 victory over Great Lakes Christian College on Wednesday night.
Spring Arbor opened the game on a 15-0 run and never looked back to earn its second straight win. The victory improved the Cougars' record to 4-1 on the season – the best start through five games in more than 10 years for the program.
Sophomore Cara Hoffman led the way with a career-high 25 points on 11-for-19 shooting while also adding four rebounds and four steals. Three other players joined Hoffman in double figure scoring, including freshman Kristina Grace who finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds to record her first career double-double. Fellow freshmen Rachel Nelson and Alex Forster chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Freshman Morgan Carter totaled eight points and eight rebounds while classmate Ryann Laier also hauled in eight boards.
Spring Arbor will travel to Huntington, Indiana this weekend for the Huntington Classic. The Cougars will face off against the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. before taking the floor against Indiana University-Southeast on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m.
