Top-ranked IWU too much for Men's Basketball

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball fell 91-71 at the hands of No. 1 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday night inside the SAU Fieldhouse.

The loss drops the Cougars to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the Crossroads League while the Wildcats improved to 7-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

Indiana Wesleyan was red-hot from the field in the first half hitting 21-of-33 shots, including nine three-pointers, to build a 23 point halftime lead that Spring Arbor was unable to overcome.

The Wildcats finished the game shooting 55 percent (36-for-66) compared to SAU's 43 percent (29-for-68), but the Cougars did hold a 37-32 edge in rebounds.

Senior Greg Hamilton netted a team-high 18 points while sophomore Zach Medendorp matched his season-high with 15 points. Freshman Tommy Hamilton also scored in double figures chipping in 10 points off the bench. Junior Thomas Starks ripped down a game-high nine rebounds to go along with his seven points.

Spring Arbor will look to bounce back when it hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene University () on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. The Cougars will be partnering with the Parma Lions Club to host a Food Drive. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for Christmas baskets given to local families during the holiday season.
