MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team fell at No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan University 93-53 in Crossroads League action on Wednesday night.
The loss dropped the Cougars to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference while the Wildcats improved to 9-2 on the season with a 1-1 mark in league play.
Indiana Wesleyan opened up a 10 point lead, 18-8, late in the first quarter, but freshman Rachel Nelson scored five straight points to close the gap to five with 2:06 remaining in the period. However, the Wildcats would boost their advantage back to double digits with a 13-3 run over the next five minutes and never look back.
Junior Kylie Townsley paced SAU with 16 points while junior Rachel Driesenga followed with eight points and a game-high seven rebounds. Senior Jessica Mabry chipped in seven points and three assists.
The Cougars will look to rebound when they visit Mount Vernon Nazarene University (7-3, 1-1 CL) on Saturday, Dec. 5. The two teams will tipoff at 1 p.m.
