Veterans lead Cougars past Saint Francis in opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team saw its three veterans thrive in Tuesday's season opener to lead the Cougars to a 5-4 victory at the University of Saint Francis (Ind.).

Senior Quincy Banini, junior Mary-Kate McShane and sophomore Monika Wynne all earned wins in singles competition. Banini and McShane prevailed in straight sets while Wynne battled back after a first set loss to capture a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Banini and Wynne teamed up at No. 1 doubles and cruised to an 8-0 win while McShane and freshman Emily Joseph held on 8-6.

Up next, Spring Arbor will host Bethel College in its 2015 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m.
