Grace deals Women's Tennis first defeat

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 6-3 to Grace College on Saturday.

Junior Mary-Kate McShane and freshman Emily Joseph picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles to start the day for the Cougars. However, the Lancers earned a narrow 8-6 win over senior Quincy Banini and sophomore Monika Wynne at No. 1 doubles, and held off freshmen Morgan Keeler and Brianna VanRavenswaay at No. 3 doubles to build a 2-1 advantage.

In singles action, McShane and Wynne secured points for SAU with straight-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, but Grace sealed its first victory of the season after posting victories at the four remaining positions.

Spring Arbor (2-1, 2-1 Crossroads League) will host Marian University on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. before hitting the road again for two straight where it will face Goshen College and the defending conference champions Indiana Wesleyan University.
