SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – After winning two doubles matches, the Spring Arbor University women's tennis team captured four singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Bethel College on Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars boosted their record to 4-3 on the season, and in the Crossroads League, with the win. Meanwhile, the Pilots dipped to 6-4 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Senior Quincy Banini and sophomore Monika Wynne got things going with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles while the pair of junior Mary-Kate McShane and freshman Emily Joseph stayed hot at the No. 2 position prevailing 8-4.
Moving to singles, the Cougars picked up wins at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 positions, surrendering just four games in the three matches. Banini came out on top 6-1, 6-1 while McShane and Wynne won by identical scores of 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Brianna VanRavenswaay also earned a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-0.
Spring Arbor will conclude its conference slate when it visits unbeaten Huntington University (7-0, 5-0) on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m.
