MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Sophomore Kasey Follis tallied a career-best 15 kills to lead the Spring Arbor University volleyball team to three-set sweep of Bethel College on Wednesday night at Goodman Gymnasium.

MATCH BREAKDOWN
- SET SCORES: 25-22, 25-12, 29-27
- After a back and forth start to the night's opening set, kills by Maggie Watson and Annica Stotz ignited an 8-1 run to give Spring Arbor a commanding 17-9 lead. Bethel fought back and closed the gap to one, 20-19, but the Cougars showed their resiliency and closed out the frame to grab the early advantage.
- In the second set, the Pilots recorded the first point, but the Cougars answered with 11 consecutive points and never looked back. Follis recorded four kills in the set, including one for the set point.
- SAU carried the momentum into the third set, charging out to a 9-4 lead early on. The Cougars continued to hold the lead, but Bethel stayed within striking distance. The Pilots fought off three match-points before Follis finally put the home team away with her 15th kill of the night.
- In addition to her 15 kills, Follis added two assists and two blocks. Rebekah Kujat added 14 kills while Courtney Kyser and Alyssa Walker chipped in five apiece. Annica Stotz finished with more than 30 assists for the fourth straight match recording 36 on the night.
- Defensively, Leah Rose led the way with 15 digs followed by 11 from Taylor Johnston and 10 from Gabrielle Hilliard. Watson also posted three blocks.
FOR THE PILOTS
- Bethel was led by Cassie Sears and Brittany Carnahan with nine kills each. Setter Payton Anderson finished with 16 assists.
- The defense was anchored by Erin Carlos with 15 digs while Haley Brown and Kassandra Williams posted four blocks apiece.
- The loss was the fifth straight setback for the Pilots as they hit just .133 as a team.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will conclude its season with back-to-back home matches this weekend. The Cougars will face Goshen College (12-17, 6-10 CL) on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and the University of Saint Francis (8-24, 4-12 CL) on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m.
