SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – After suffering a close loss to Madonna University on the opening day of the 6th annual Trent Allen Memorial Tournament, the Spring Arbor University men's basketball team bounced back with a 106-48 win over Great Lakes Christian College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor and Madonna got off to slow starts combining for 15 turnovers and 17 fouls in the first 10 minutes of action.
- After falling behind 6-0 to begin the game, Madonna would use a 14-2 run to gain the lead, and eventually take a 32-24 advantage into halftime.
- The Cougars began to find their rhythm though in the second half, and started to chip away at the deficit. With 7:58 to play, a pair of free throws from Paul Marandet tied the score at 51-51, and Marandet followed with a layup to give SAU its first lead since the opening minutes of the contest.
- The lead was short-lived though as Madonna answered with five straight points to regain the advantage, and the Crusaders would not trail again.
- Marandet led the way with 15 points while Zach Medendorp followed with 14 points and nine rebounds. Tommy Hamilton also finished in double figures with 12 points, which matched his career-high.
- Madonna outshot SAU, hitting 44 percent (28-for-64) of its shots compared to the Cougars' 36 percent (21-for-59).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the score tied 6-6 early on, Spring Arbor would grab a commanding lead with a 15-2 run and never look back.
- All 13 Cougars reached the scoring column. Marandet, Luke Barber and Kyle Bartholomew registered 13 points each to lead the way while Medendorp finished with 11. Bartholomew also hauled in 12 rebounds for his first career double-double.
- Spring Arbor connected on over 51 percent (38-for-74) of its field goal attempts while holding Great Lakes Christian to 27 percent (18-for-67).
- The Cougars dominated in the paint, outscoring the Lakes 52-22.
