Women's Tennis shuts out Cornerstone 9-0

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team recorded its fourth shutout of the season Thursday afternoon, defeating visiting Cornerstone University 9-0 at the Cougar Tennis Courts.

The Cougars cruised through doubles play surrendering only one point in three matches. The teams of Quincy Banini and Monika Wynne, and Alyssa Bart and Jewell Allen posted 8-0 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At the No. 2 spot, Mary-Kate McShane and Emily Joseph came out on top 8-1.

In singles competition, Spring Arbor posted straight set wins in all six matches. Banini dominated at No. 1 winning 6-0, 6-0. Wynne and Morgan Keeler notched identical 6-1, 6-0 victories while Joseph and Brianna VanRavenswaay both prevailed 6-2, 6-0. The closest match came at No. 2 singles where Cornerstone's Ashley Greene challenged McShane before falling 6-3, 6-2.

Spring Arbor (13-7) will wrap up its season at home against Calvin College (9-5) on Wednesday, Apr. 20 at 4 p.m.
