SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team played its first match ever at the new Ronald L. and Marvel C. Jones Tennis Complex on Wednesday. However, the visiting Taylor University Trojans would spoil the afternoon defeating the Cougars 7-2 in Crossroads League action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Spring Arbor came into the match looking to avenge a loss to Taylor in the Crossroads League Tournament last season, but the Trojans captured all the momentum after sweeping the three doubles matches.
• Mary-Kate McShane and Monika Wynne suffered an 8-4 loss at No. 1 doubles while Brianna VanRavenswaay and Alyssa LePard fell by the same score at No. 3. The Trojans picked up their third point with an 8-1 win at No. 2.
• Taylor secured the overall match win early on in singles competition, picking up straight set wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
• Barbara Haikal and Emma Joseph claimed the Cougars' two points – both winning in three sets.
