FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team dropped a pair of Crossroads League matches over the weekend. The Cougars fell at Goshen College 3-1 on Friday night before suffering a three set loss at the University of Saint Francis on Saturday.
MATCH 1 (GOSHEN)
FINAL SCORE: Spring Arbor 1, Goshen 3
LOCATION: Gunden Gymnasium | Goshen, Ind.
RECORDS: Spring Arbor 3-10 (0-8 CL), Goshen 9-6 (4-3 CL)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET SCORES: 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19
- Fresh off joining the 1,000-kill club, Rebekah Kujat led the attack with 16 kills. Kasey Follis followed with a career-high 11.
- Setter Annica Stotz also registered a new career-high finishing with 36 assists while also picking up 12 digs.
- Gabrielle Hilliard paced the defense with a career-best 20 digs. Mackey Heasley and Taylor Johnston collected 11 and eight, respectively.
MATCH 2 (SAINT FRANCIS)
FINAL SCORE: Spring Arbor 0, Goshen 3
LOCATION: Hutzell Athletic Center | Fort Wayne, Ind.
RECORDS: Spring Arbor 3-11 (0-9 CL), Saint Francis 3-14 (2-7 CL)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET SCORES: 25-23, 26-24, 25-16
- Stotz handed out 24 assists and added six digs.
- Kujat tallied 12 kills while Maggie Watson chipped in five.
- Leah Rose and Heasley both registered an ace in the match.
- Two Cougars finished with double-digit digs. Hilliard tallied 14 and Rose ended with 12.
- Courtney Kyser posted a team-high four blocks.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will host Taylor University (9-8, 6-3 CL) on Wednesday, Sept. 28 with first serve set for 7 p.m.
