MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team suffered its first setback of the season on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a close 5-4 decision to Crossroads League foe Bethel College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Tuesday's thrilling matchup began with Spring Arbor winning four singles matches, including three in three sets. Monika Wynne, Emma Joseph and Brianna VanRavenswaay all prevailed in hard-fought, three set battles, while Barbara Haikal came away with a straight set win at No. 2 singles.
• The Cougars would need just one win in doubles competition to secure the overall match victory, but Bethel refused to let that happen. The Pilots claimed an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles before tying the score 4-4 with a close 8-5 win at No. 2.
• The match came down to No. 1 doubles, but it was the home team who escaped with a narrow 8-6 win over Mary-Kate McShane and Wynne.
