MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Fueled by a game-winning goal in the 79th minute by junior Bethany Balcer, the Spring Arbor University women's soccer team notched a 2-1 triumph over Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half, Spring Arbor broke the deadlock less than two minutes into the second stanza. Kelly Hoffius tallied her third goal of the season with an assist from Jacquelyn Martin.
- Mount Vernon Nazarene found the equalizer in the 77th minute. It was the first goal conceded by SAU since Oct. 4 – a span of four games.
- The Cougars responded immediately, however, with what proved to be the game-winner from Balcer in the 79th minute.
- Spring Arbor held a 13-8 shot advantage over Mount Vernon Nazarene while also earning 10 corner kicks compared to MVNU's one.
- Goalkeeper Ashley Timmons finished with two saves on the afternoon.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Spring Arbor is 9-0-1 against MVNU in the last 10 meetings.
- The Cougars are 6-0-0 in the Crossroads League this season, and currently have a 42-match unbeaten streak in the league dating back to the 2012 campaign.
- Balcer scored her 20th goal of the season. It was also her seventh game-winning, which leads the NAIA.
