GOSHEN, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball opened the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back, defeating Goshen College 59-41 inside Gunden Gym on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kylie Townsley and Rachel Nelson combined for the first seven points of the game to give Spring Arbor an early advantage. Aimee Konkel would score the next seven straight for the Cougars, and the visitors would grab a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Spring Arbor held Goshen to just 2-for-11 shooting in the opening period, and forced the Maple Leafs into seven turnovers.
- The Cougars continued to ride their momentum into the second quarter, and following a three-pointer from Konkel at the 3:31 mark, SAU took its largest lead yet, 30-17.
- Goshen made a late charge over the final three minutes, however, and would end the frame on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to seven, 30-23, at halftime.
- The Maple Leafs got within five early in the third quarter, but Nelson would tally six points during an 11-0 run to put the Cougars in the driver's seat. Spring Arbor would extend its lead to as much as 21 in the fourth quarter en route to its second straight victory.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Nelson and Townsley poured in 16 points apiece to lead Spring Arbor. Townsley also added a season-high six steals, five rebounds and three assists.
- Autumn Goggin recorded 15 points and five boards while Konkel finished with 10 points. Rachel Driesenga hauled in a game-high eight rebounds to go along with two points and one block. Karly Bender handed out four assists and had one steal.
- Spring Arbor shot 43 percent (24-for-56) from the floor.
- The Cougars forced the Maple Leafs into 20 turnovers, and converted those takeaways into 21 points.
FOR THE MAPLE LEAFS
- Goshen was led by Gabby Williams with 12 points while Lynnia Noel chipped in eight.
- The Maple Leafs were limited to just 31 percent (16-for-51) shooting on the night, and held to their third-lowest scoring output of the season.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will close out the season with a home game against No. 24 Indiana Wesleyan University (17-12, 10-7 CL) on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. Following the contest, the Cougars will have a brief ceremony to recognize their senior class.
