MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team dropped its Crossroads League opener 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-17) against No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan University on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The defending Crossroads League champions started strong and never looked back. The Wildcats hit .333 in the first set and .419 in the second on their way to claiming both frames.
- An ace from Olivia Landis and a kill from Maggie Watson helped Spring Arbor grab an early 5-3 advantage in the third set. However, the home would use a 6-1 run to pull in front and would not relinquish the lead.
- Sydney Ritz and Kasey Follis recorded five kills each while Watson and Landis finished with four apiece. Annica Stotz handed out six assists and added four digs. Stephaney Fifield posted a team-high seven digs while Courtney Kyser and Watson each registered two blocks.
FOR INDIANA WESLEYAN
- The Wildcats were led by Tay Thomas with 10 kills while Morgan Miller chipped in nine. Emily Workman and Katie Cole combined to distribute 27 assists.
- Indiana Wesleyan finished the night with a .347 team hitting percentage.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will compete in the Siena Heights University Classic on Friday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 2. The Cougars are set to play Lawrence Tech and Siena Heights on Friday before facing off against Saint Ambrose University and Lindenwood University-Belleville on Saturday.
