SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Less than 24 hours after a grueling five-set win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University, the Spring Arbor University volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Crossroads League rival Taylor University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET SCORES: 16-25, 25-13, 23-25, 18-25
- After dropping the opening set, Spring Arbor stormed back to claim the second.
- In the fourth set, Taylor held a 24-19 lead, but nearly saw the advantage erased as SAU scored four consecutive points. However, the Trojans managed to escape with the set win.
- Midway through the fourth frame, Spring Arbor trailed by just two, 15-13, but Taylor used a 7-3 run en route to capturing the set and the match.
- Courtney Kyser and Kasey Follis led the way with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
- Annica Stotz and Emily Martin combined for 41 assists while also recording one ace apiece.
- Freshman libero Stephaney Fifield notched a match-high 25 digs.
FOR TAYLOR
- Becca Gerig led the Trojans with 15 kills and 13 digs. Rachel Bouma hit at a .500 clip, recording 12 kills on 22 swings.
- Haley Harrell finished with 37 assists.

Spring Arbor will have six days off before welcoming the University of Saint Francis (3-12, 2-3 CL) to town on Friday, Sept. 22. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
