SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University held the Crossroads League's top offensive team to its lowest scoring output of the season Wednesday night, but it would not be enough as No. 15 Taylor University held on to defeat the Cougars 62-49.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor jumped all over the No. 15 ranked Trojans holding a 21-16 lead after the first quarter. Rachel Nelson led the way for SAU with 10 points through the first 10 minutes.
- Taylor responded in the second quarter, shooting 62 percent from the field, outscoring Spring Arbor 21-11. The Cougars trailed by seven, 35-28, at the 3:32 mark, but back-to-back buckets from Sara White and Nelson cut the deficit to three with less than a minute to go. Just before the buzzer, TU's Cassidy Wyse knocked down a jumper to give the visitors a 37-32 advantage heading into the break.
- The Spring Arbor defense held the high-powered Taylor offense in check throughout the third and fourth quarters, limiting the Trojans to just 25 second half points. The Cougars were never able to get into a rhythm on the offensive end, however, shooting 27 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Nelson posted a team-high 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting while hitting three three-pointers. She also finished with a team-best eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Autumn Goggin added eight points and Ryann Laier chipped in six with six boards.
- Spring Arbor ended the evening shooting 38 percent (20-for-53) from the floor, including a 6-for-21 mark from behind the arc.
FOR THE TROJANS
- Reigning NAIA National Player of the Week Kendall Bradburry had 22 points while Wyse ended with 18.
- Taylor connected on 52 percent (25-for-48) of its field goal attempts.
- The Trojans held a 31-25 advantage in rebounds.
