HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team dropped a Crossroads League contest at Huntington University 74-57 on Saturday. The Foresters held a four point lead midway through the third quarter, but closed the period on a 13-0 run and refused to let the Cougars back in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor looked to slow down red-hot Huntington, who entered Saturday as winners in five of its last six games. The Cougars got off to a strong start with a quick basket from Ryann Laier and a three-pointer from Autumn Goggin. SAU trailed by just one, 14-13, after the first quarter.
- Huntington shot extremely well in the second quarter, going 8-for-14 from the floor and making seven field goals in a row during a four minute span to stretch the lead to double digits, 32-20. The Cougars responded though before halftime. Goggin hit her second triple of the afternoon and Rachel Nelson scored four quick points to help close the gap to seven, 34-27, heading to the locker room.
- Spring Arbor continued to play Huntington tough, trailing by only four points midway through the third quarter. However, the Foresters held SAU scoreless over the final 4:33 of the period while pouring in 13 unanswered points.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Three Cougars scored in double figures, led by Goggin's 16 points. She also added a team-high six rebounds and four assists. Gracie Cabana finished with 14 points while hitting four three-pointers and Nelson ended with 12 points and three boards.
- Gabby Barnett chipped in six points and five rebounds.
- Spring Arbor shot 39 percent (20-for-52) from the field, but hit 11-of-26 shots from three-point range. The Cougars attempted just nine free throws and made six.
FOR THE FORESTERS
- Huntington was led by Sarah Fryman and Maddie Richer, who combined for 25 points.
- The Foresters connected on 51 percent (26-for-51) of their field goal attempts and were 17-for-21 from the free throw line.
- HU held a 24-16 edge in rebounds.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor visits Mount Vernon Nazarene University (14-10, 6-6 CL) on Wednesday, Jan. 31 before returning home to host No. 5 Marian University (22-2, 11-1 CL) on Saturday, Feb. 3.
