HOW IT HAPPENED
- The meeting between Spring Arbor and Marian was the first since last season's epic Crossroads League Tournament championship match, which saw SAU win in the second overtime period.
- Spring Arbor created a scoring opportunity 10 minutes into the match. A shot by Alicia Hall was saved and the rebound went to Brooke Beaune with the goalkeeper out of position, but a Marian defender blocked Beaune's shot before it could cross the goal line.
- The Knights broke the scoreless deadlock in the 22nd minute when a shot from Noelle Jester found its way through traffic in front of the net and beat Allison Keizer to the lower left corner.
- The home team tacked on an insurance goal moments into the second half.
- Marian outshot Spring Arbor 13-11. Keizer made eight saves in the match.
- The win was Marian's first over SAU since the 2008 season.
