SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The top-seeded, and No. 3 ranked, Spring Arbor University women's soccer team defeated eighth-seeded Bethel College 4-0 on Wednesday in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals.
After a scoreless first half, the Cougars notched four goals, from four different players, in an 18-minute span in the second.
With the win, SAU advances to the tournament semifinals where they will meet fifth-seeded Taylor University on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor applied plenty of pressure throughout the first half firing 13 shots, but Bethel goalkeeper Tessa Zimmerly was terrific between the pipes making seven saves to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
- The Cougars broke the deadlock less than a minute into the second stanza when a Pilot giveaway deep in their own end allowed Kaley Buck to walk the ball into a wide open net.
- The goal opened the floodgates as SAU tallied three more goals over the next 18 minutes with Bethany Balcer, Brooke Beaune and Makenzie Selvius all finding the back of the net.
- Spring Arbor finished with a 31-1 shot advantage.
- Goalkeepers Allison Keizer and Emily Ponstein combined for the shutout.
