SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Senior Bethany Balcer scored two goals, including the game-winner, to help lead the No. 3 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team past Taylor University 4-1 in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
The top-seeded Cougars advance to the tournament championship match where they will meet second-seeded, and No. 16 ranked, Grace College on Saturday, Nov. 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor and Taylor were deadlocked at halftime, but Balcer gave the Cougars the lead in the 54th minute. Malorie Henderlong delivered a picture perfect free kick into the box that found the head of Balcer.
- A goal by Taylor knotted the score in the 63rd minute, but, less than five minutes later, Balcer would strike again, heading home a corner kick from Lexi Ponstein, to put SAU on top for good.
- Brooke Beaune would add an insurance goal in the 80th minute, and Annika Hoekstra recorded the final tally in the 86th minute.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor aims for its ninth straight league championship when it hosts Grace College (18-2-0) in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship on Saturday, Nov. 10. The winner will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2018 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship.
