HOW IT HAPPENED

- The former Cougar great's MVNU squad was fresh off an upset win over No. 12 Marian University and looking to do the same against the top-ranked Cougars.
- After 42 minutes of scoreless action, Thorne found the back of the net, with an assist from Makenzie Selvius, just before halftime to put SAU in front at the break.
- Spring Arbor would make the lead stand to win its eighth consecutive game. Goalkeeper Allison Keizer stopped both shots she faced to record the shutout.
