SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team scored a season-high 101 points on the way to its fifth straight victory, defeating Alma College 101-89 on Thursday night inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
Brandon Durnell and Luke Barber posted career-highs with 22 points and 16 points, respectively, while Jeff Beckman recorded his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor never trailed in the game, and led by as many as 16 points.
- The Cougars shot extremely well from the floor in the first half, shooting 52 percent (22-for-42) and knocking down six three-pointers, on their way to a 55-41 lead at the break.
- Alma made a push in the second half to close the gap to single digits. The Scots made seven second half three's, including four in the first nine minutes, to get within five, 74-69.
- The visitors trailed by just six at the 8:00 mark, but an old-fashioned three-point play by Brandon Durnell sparked a 10-0 run to help put the game out of reach.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Durnell went 8-for-9 from the floor on his way to a career-high 22 points. Barber also posted a career-high with 16 points and knocking down three triples while Beckman finished with a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
- Paul Marandet had 21 points and eight assists, and Nick Welch and Tom Hamilton also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Hamilton also dished out seven assists.
- Spring Arbor shot 47 percent (37-for-78) from the floor.
- The Cougars outscored Alma 42-32 in the paint and converted 12 Scot turnovers into 20 points.
FOR THE SCOTS
- Five Alma players scored in double figures, led by Kyle Woodruff's 17 points.
- The Scots also shot 47 percent (29-for-61) on the night.
UP NEXT
After four straight home games, Spring Arbor will now play four of its next five on the road. The Cougars visit Grace Christian University (3-2) on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
