SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 65-58 setback to Governors State University on Saturday.
The game was tied, 43-43, following a Gracie Cabana three-pointer 16 seconds into the fourth quarter, but the Jaguars would outscore the Cougars 22-15 the rest of the way.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rachel Nelson scored 15 first half points to help give Spring Arbor a 26-21 lead at halftime.
- The Cougars struggled to find their rhythm offensively in the third quarter going just 2-for-10 from the field, including an eight minute stretch without a field goal. Despite the shooting struggles, SAU made the most of its trips to the free throw line, going 8-for-10 from the charity stripe in the period. Meanwhile, Governors State shot a sizzling 67 percent (10-for-15) in the quarter to push its way back in front heading to the fourth.
- A triple from Cabana on the first possession of the fourth quarter tied the score 43-43. A red-hot Tyisha Worthy took over for the Jaguars, however, scoring 10 points over the final 10 minutes, including two clutch three's.
- Spring Arbor trailed by just five, 55-50, with 3:29 to play, but a 6-0 GSU run put the game out of reach.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Nelson finished with a game-high 23 points – her third 20-point performance of the season. She matched her career-high with four three-pointers while also adding a team-best eight rebounds.
- Cabana added 15 points and three assists while Anne Marie Wright had nine points.
- Spring Arbor shot 36 percent (18-for-50) on the afternoon, and made 10 three-pointers.
FOR THE JAGUARS
- Three players scored in double figures for Governors State, including 20 points from Worthy. Amber Brooks finished with a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Ariana Dampier had 14 points.
- The Jaguars shot 47 percent (26-for-55) from the floor.
