SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team fell to Crossroads League leader, and No. 5 ranked, Marian University 89-44 at home on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The two-time defending national champions started strong and never looked back. The Knights made four of their first five shots, including a pair of three-pointers, to race out to an 11-4 lead.
• Marian, which owns the league's top scoring offense, expanded the lead in the second quarter, using a 12-3 run over the final four minutes of the period en route to the team's 12th consecutive victory.

FOR THE COUGARS

• Ryann Laier, Gracie Cabana and Anne Marie Wright registered nine points each for Spring Arbor. Autumn Goggin finished with eight points and five rebounds while Gabby Barnett added five points and four boards.
• Spring Arbor shot 29 percent (14-for-49) on the afternoon and went 9-for-11 from the free throw line.

FOR THE KNIGHTS

• Marian was led by Dejah Cyrus, who had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
• The Knights were red-hot from the field shooting 58 percent (35-for-60), including 45 percent (10-for-22) from behind the arc.
