HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first two quarters were closely contested seeing seven lead changes with neither team ever leading by more than five. A basket from Wright with less than a minute to go in the second quarter gave Spring Arbor a one point lead, but Bethel countered with a bucket of its own just before the buzzer to take a 30-29 advantage into halftime.
- The Pilots scored five straight points to start the third quarter to nab their largest lead of the evening. However, back-to-back triples from Autumn Goggin and Rachel Nelson helped trim the deficit to one, 36-35, midway through the period.
- With the score tied 53-53 at the 5:25 mark of the fourth quarter, the Cougars would use a 10-3 run to take control of the game. Nelson got things started with a layup and capped the scoring spurt with a three-pointer.
- Spring Arbor was able to close out the game at the free throw line as Faith Johnson, Ryann Laier and Gracie Cabana combined to go a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch.
