SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team was one out away from taking game one of Wednesday's doubleheader with Taylor University, but the Trojans erupted for nine runs to deal SAU a 12-6 setback. The visitors would also rally late in game two to upend the Cougars 9-5.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Sydney Taylor crushed a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to put Spring Arbor on top 3-1.
- The Trojans tied the score in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars answered in the home half of the frame to regain the lead. Jessica Marwede blasted a solo homer before an RBI double from Aubrey Herrema gave SAU a 5-3 advantage.
- Taylor battled back though. After two quick outs to start the seventh, TU's Cassie Kuizin, who hit for the cycle in the game, hit a two-run home run to tie the score. The Trojans would tack on seven more runs, including a grand slam, to steal the win.
- Marwede, Herrema and Maddison Brock each recorded two hits.
- Kelsey Brown suffered the loss in the circle. Brown allowed just three runs through six innings before Taylor broke the game open in the seventh.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Both teams played long ball in game two, combining for six home runs. Kuizin led off the game with a solo shot to put Taylor on top early, but Jordan Burman answered with a big fly of her own in the home half to tie things up.
- Hope Longenbarger got in on the action in the second inning, launching her second homer of the season, a two-run blast to give Spring Arbor the lead.
- With the score tied 3-3, Taylor had an offensive outburst in the fifth inning to take the lead for good. The Trojans tallied five runs on five hits on their way to sweeping the doubleheader.
- Burman went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs to lead the Cougars.
- Lauren Heath surrendered five runs on seven hits in four innings pitched in the loss.

Spring Arbor hosts the University of Saint Francis (12-11, 5-5 CL) on Friday, Mar. 30 at 1 p.m. and welcomes Goshen College (9-18, 1-7 CL) on Saturday, Mar. 31 starting at noon.
