SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team dropped both games of the Crossroads League doubleheader to No. 3 ranked Marian University Tuesday. The Knights claimed game one 9-0 and held off the Cougars 2-0 in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Spring Arbor brought the tying run to the plate following singles from Maddison Brock and Kelsey Brown. However, Marian's pitcher Breena Smith was able to wiggle her way out of the jam with a strikeout and groundout.
- The Knights added to their lead with two runs in the fourth before breaking the game open with a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh.
- Brock collected two of SAU's six hits. Brown, Hope Longenbarger, Jordan Burman and Sydney Taylor also recorded one hit.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor had a hard time finding any offense in game two as MU's Shelby Herron limited the Cougars to just four hits.
- SAU nearly jumped on top in the bottom of the first inning. After reaching on a double, Longenbarger attempted to score from second on a base hit by Taylor, but was thrown out at the plate.
- Marian scored the only runs of the game in the third inning on back-to-back base hits by Kassidi Cadle and Mackenzie Reeder.
- The Cougars brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the sixth, but was unable to score.
- Lauren Heath limited one of the nation's top teams to just two runs on six hits over seven innings pitched.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will look to bounce back when it hosts Goshen College (12-23, 4-12 CL) on Wednesday, Apr. 10. Game one of the doubleheader starts at 3 p.m.
