Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team was unable to slow down one of the top teams in the Crossroads League, falling to Mount Vernon Nazarene University in three sets (25-16, 25-21, 26-24).
MVNU has won six of its last seven contests, improving to 20-5 overall and currently sits in third place in the Crossroads League standings with an 8-3 mark. Spring Arbor dropped to 4-12 on the season and 0-11 in league play.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Mount Vernon Nazarene held a slim 17-15 lead in the first set before running off an 8-1 run to close out the frame.
- The home team was in control throughout most of the second set. A late run by Spring Arbor closed the gap to two, 23-21, but MVNU held on to take a 2-0 set lead.
- The third set was back-and-forth the entire way. A 6-1 run put SAU in front 23-21, but Mount Vernon Nazarene would battle its way back and ultimately win the set to claim the match.
- Macey Rupp posted a career-high 13 kills on the night.
- Sydney Ritz and Hope Notter recorded double-doubles. Ritz had 14 kills and 10 digs while Notter handed out 29 assists to go along with 12 digs.
- Paige Porter and Sarah Chastain finished the match with 14 and nine digs, respectively.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor will step away from Crossroads League play for the weekend and take part in the Indiana Tech Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament on Oct. 11-12. The Cougars will play Indiana University Kokomo and Thomas More College on Friday before facing off against host Indiana Tech and Concordia University on Saturday.
