WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The sixth-seeded Spring Arbor University women's soccer team fell in a six-round penalty kick shootout to third-seeded Grace College during a Crossroads League Tournament quarterfinal match on Saturday afternoon.
Spring Arbor and Grace were scoreless after 110 minutes before the shootout, which the Lancers prevailed in, 4-3, to advance to the tournament semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After neither team was able to find the back of the net during regulation and two overtime periods, the match went to a penalty kick shootout.
- The shootout was tied 2-2 after three rounds, but a miss by Grace opened the door for SAU, and Morgan Marshall converted her attempt to put the Cougars in front.
- Spring Arbor had an opportunity to close out the match in the fifth round of the shootout, but the attempt missed.
- Grace made their next attempt and the Lancer goalkeeper came up with a save on SAU's final shot.
- Spring Arbor had 14 shots on the afternoon while Grace posted 15. Both teams earned five corner kicks.
UP NEXT
The NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship bracket will be announced during a selection show, which is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 18. Twenty-six (26) conference champions qualify automatically for the field of 46 teams, while Spring Arbor will seek to claim one of the remaining 20 at-large spots in the tournament.
