Volleyball falls to Saint Francis in season finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University volleyball team closed out the 2019 season over the weekend with matches at Goshen College and at the University of Saint Francis. The Cougars dropped a five-set match to Goshen on Friday night and were defeated in three by Saint Francis on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE: Spring Arbor 2, Goshen 3 (25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 21-25, 12-15)

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • Spring Arbor held a 2-1 lead after the first three sets, but Goshen battled back to win the next two, including the decisive fifth set.
  • Sydney Ritz and Maggie Watson finished with 12 kills apiece while Claudia Ellis had 10 hitting at a .400 clip. Hope Notter had 30 assists and Emily Martin added 19 more.
  • Paige Porter posted a match-high 28 digs and Sarah Chastain followed with 19. Ritz collected 12 digs to complete the double-double.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ritz led SAU with eight kills and was followed by Sarah Schmid with four. Notter registered 12 assists.
  • Porter picked up 12 digs while Notter finished with nine and Chastain had eight.
