HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team made a season-high 11 three-pointers, but it was not enough as the Cougars dropped their Crossroads League opener at Huntington University 74-67 on Tuesday night.
The score was tied 67-67 with two minutes remaining, but the Foresters closed out the game with seven unanswered points to earn their sixth straight victory.
Gracie Cabana and Anne Marie Wright combined for 10 of SAU's 11 three's. Both players finished with a team-leading 19 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor came out of the gate red-hot, going 8-for-14 from the field in the first quarter on the way to building a 20-14 lead. Cabana had six points on a pair of triples while Wright had five points and Teona Feldpausch had four.
- Huntington had its turn with the hot-hand in the second quarter. The Foresters knocked down 63 percent of their shots and would grab a slim 36-35 advantage at halftime.
- The lead changed hands four times in the third quarter before a 9-1 run by the home team over the final 2:07 of the period gave Huntington a 60-52 lead heading to the final quarter.
- Huntington led by as many as 10 in the fourth, but Spring Arbor fought its way back. Back-to-back buckets by Grace Shoobridge, followed by a three from Wright, closed the gap to two, 67-65, at the 3:00 mark. After Feldpausch forced an HU turnover, Cabana converted a pair of free throws to tie the score.
- The Foresters put a halt to SAU's run with two straight baskets, and were able to clinch the game at the free throw line down the stretch.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Cabana and Wright had 19 points apiece to lead Spring Arbor. Cabana was 5-for-9 from behind the arc while Wright also buried five triples and dished out a career-high seven assists.
- Feldpausch recorded 12 points and eight rebounds while Shoobridge also chipped in 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting. She added six boards and six assists.
- Spring Arbor shot 49 percent (26-for-53) on the night and was 11-for-27 from three-point range.
FOR THE FORESTERS
- Spring Arbor was unable to slow down Huntington's Sarah Fryman, who finished with a career-high 35 points.
- HU's Sam Hammel recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
- The Foresters connected on 52 percent (28-for-54) of their field goal attempts and were 12-for-15 from the free throw line.
