Women's Basketball bests Lourdes in non-conference tilt

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team topped Lourdes University 72-61 in non-conference action on Monday night inside the McDonald Athletic Center.

Anne Marie Wright scored a game-high 21 while sinking five 3-pointers and Teona Feldpausch recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lourdes made its first two shots of the game to pull ahead early 5-2. The lead was short lived, however, as Spring Arbor poured in 12 unanswered points to grab the lead.
  • The Cougars expanded their lead to double digits in the second quarter on their way to a 41-24 halftime advantage. Wright scored 11 of SAU's 25 points in the period going 4-for-6 from the floor with three 3-pointers.
  • Spring Arbor continued to cruise in the second half, and would lead by as much as 30.

 
 

FOR THE COUGARS

  • Wright's 21 points led the way for Spring Arbor. It was her second 20-point performance in as many games, and her third of the season. She made five 3-pointers on the night – tying her season-high.
  • Feldpausch recorded her fifth double-double of the season, which ranks as the second-most in the Crossroads League. She had 17 points and 11 rebounds while also tallying four assists.
  • Gracie Cabana also finished in double figures with 14 points and Grace Shoobridge posted eight points and nine boards with three blocks.
  • Spirng Arbor made a season-high 13 three-pointers, finishing the night going 13-for-29 from long range.

 
 

FOR THE GRAY WOLVES

  • Sara Semler had a team-high 13 points while Mirandia Green and Erica Cary had 12 apiece.
  • The Gray Wolves shot 38 percent (20-for-52) on the night.

 
 

UP NEXT

Spring Arbor will welcome two more opponents to the McDonald Athletic Center this week. The Cougars host Madonna University (2-10) on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. and take on the University of Michigan-Dearborn (9-5) on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m.
