SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 69-53 victory over Goshen College on Saturday at the McDonald Athletic Center.
Rachel Nelson led the way on Senior Day with 24 points while Gracie Cabana and Kristina Grace also scored in double figures.
Following the game, the Cougars recognized their three seniors, Ryann Laier, Kristina Grace and Rachel Nelson, for their hard work and contributions to the program over the last four years.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 13-2 run by Spring Arbor over a four-minute stretch in the second quarter gave the Cougars a 28-16 lead – its largest lead of the first half.
- Goshen would rally back before halftime, however, and trim the deficit to five, 33-28, at the intermission.
- The Maple Leafs closed the gap to one on two different occasions in the third quarter, but the Cougars refused to surrender their lead.
- Spring Arbor ended the third period with a double digit lead and maintained a comfortable cushion throughout the fourth.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Nelson scored a team-high 24 points – her third 20-point performance in the last four games. Nelson also finished with eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- Cabana tallied 16 points and Grace recorded a season-high 10 points with three rebounds. Teona Feldpausch hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Spring Arbor shot 40 percent (23-for-57) from the field and 83 percent (15-for-18) from the free throw line.
- The Cougars dominated the glass, out-rebounding Goshen 42-31. SAU had 16 offensive rebounds leading to 20 second-chance points.
FOR THE MAPLE LEAFS
- Graysen Cockerham and Sydney Stein paced Goshen with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
- The Maple Leafs shot 40 percent (23-for-57) on the afternoon.
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor finished eighth in the league standings and will travel to Upland, Indiana for the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals to take on the top-seed, and No. 8 ranked, Taylor University (25-4, 16-2 CL) on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
