HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Spring Arbor led throughout most of the first half, and by as many as seven in the second quarter. However, Bethel made a run midway through the second quarter and the two teams would go into halftime tied 31-31.
  • The Pilots took command of the game with a 10-2 in the late stages of the third quarter, and carried that lead into the fourth.
  • Still trailing by eight, 61-53, with 4:46 remaining in the game, Wright buried a triple to start the Cougar comeback. Moments later, off a BC turnover, Wright sank another to get SAU within one and, following another big defensive stop, Grace Shoobridge scored to give Spring Arbor its first lead since the second quarter, 63-62.
  • Bethel battled back and tied the score, but with 1:12 left to go, Wright knocked down a dagger three, her fifth of the quarter, to put SAU in front for good. Rachel Nelson and Gracie Cabana would go a combined 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the closing seconds to help secure the win.
