Softball drops two in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University softball team suffered a pair of losses on Thursday. The Cougars dropped a 4-1 decision to Cleary University before falling to Cardinal Stritch University 13-0.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cleary held a 1-0 lead through five innings, but added some cushion with a three-run sixth inning.
  • The Cougars got one run back in the seventh on a base hit by Chloe Gignac, but that was as close they would get.
  • Sydney Taylor registered two of SAU's seven hits, including a double. She also scored the lone run.
  • Lauren Wirgau pitched all six innings. She gave up four runs on eight hits and struck out five batters.

 
 

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cardinal Stritch put the game out of reach early. After scoring three times in the first inning, the Wolves broke things wide open with six runs in the second.
  • Spring Arbor was held to just one hit, a single by Amber Beal in the fifth inning.

 
 

UP NEXT

Spring Arbor will look to bounce back against Bellevue University and Carlow University on Friday, Mar. 8. The Cougars take the field against the Bruins at 9 a.m. and the tilt with the Celtics follows at 11:15 a.m.
