FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After suffering a pair of losses to the University of Saint Francis at home earlier this spring, the Spring Arbor University softball team returned the favor by sweeping a doubleheader at USF on Tuesday. The Cougars won game won 6-3 and picked up a 6-1 victory in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Tied 3-3 entering the seventh, Spring Arbor erupted for three runs to take the lead. Kyla Semones started the rally with a leadoff single and came around to score on a double by Hope Longenbarger. Three batters later, pinch-hitter Maddison Brock delivered a two-out, two-RBI double to give the Cougars a three-run cushion.
- Saint Francis brought the potential tying run to the plate in the home half of the seventh, but junior pitcher Lauren Wirgau escaped the jam to earn her 12th win of the season.
- Amber Beal went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored while Semones and Cora Millay picked up two hits apiece. Sydney Taylor hit her fourth home run of the season – a solo shot in the fourth inning.
- Wirgau pitched all seven innings allowing three runs on six hits while striking out eight batters. Her 12 wins match her career-high for wins in a single season.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Melody Donovan turned in one of her best pitching performances of the season in game two, limiting Saint Francis to just one run on three hits over seven innings.
- The Spring Arbor offense provided plenty of run support as well. The Cougars scored three times in the second inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Carlee Keim. SAU tallied three more runs in the sixth with Taylor, Brock and Keim driving in runs.
- Millay was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Taylor and Sarah Matlock recorded two hits each while Keim collected two RBI's.

Spring Arbor travels to Goshen College (17-30, 11-20 CL) on Friday, Apr. 26 before returning home to host No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan University (37-12, 22-7 CL) on Senior Day on Saturday, Apr. 27.
