SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University softball team led through five innings, but Mount Vernon Nazarene University rallied for eight runs over the final two frames to steal game two of Saturday's doubleheader 8-4.
Game one also went to MVNU as they defeated the Cougars 14-2 to sweep the season series.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Mount Vernon Nazarene broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the second inning.
- Spring Arbor cut into the deficit with a run in the fourth inning. After a leadoff single by Kyla Semones, she would come around to score on a double by Jade Nowe.
- The visitors broke things open with an eight-run fifth inning, capped by a grand slam by MVNU's Meghan May.
- The Cougars were held to three hits in the game. Nowe collected two RBI's while Chloe Gignac also scored.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor took the lead with four runs in the second inning. Three runs scored on a bases clearing double by Brookelyn Stafford. Gignac followed immediately with a triple to drive in Stafford.
- Lauren Wirgau allowed just two hits and shutout Mount Vernon Nazarene through five innings. However, MVNU rallied for four runs in the sixth to even the score.
- The visitors were not done, plating four more runs in the seventh and held on to complete the doubleheader sweep.
- Hope Longenbarger was 2-for-3 while Gignac, Semones, Stafford and Hannah Sutton picked up one hit apiece.
