Box Score 2 SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Saint Francis battled back from a 2-sets-to-1 deficit to deal the Spring Arbor University volleyball team a 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-12) loss during Homecoming on Saturday at the McDonald Athletic Center.
It was the third five-set loss for SAU in the last four matches. Prior to Saturday's setback, the Cougars also fell in five to Goshen College (25-17, 17-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-13)

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- After dropping the opening set, Spring Arbor responded by winning the next two, including a thrilling 28-26 win in the third set.
- The Cougars led 18-14 in the fourth set, but the Maple Leafs scored 11 straight points to even things up before ultimately winning the match in five sets.
- Three Cougars finished the match with double digit kills. Sydney Ritz posted a team-high 16 while Sarah Schmid had a season-best 12 and Macey Rupp had 11.
- Hope Notter, who made her season debut after suffering a preseason injury, handed out 34 assists and Emily Martin added 23. Notter also registered 14 digs and two aces.
- Paige Porter anchored the defense with 28 digs. Martin picked up 14 digs while Emily Johnson and Sarah Chastain had 12 each. Schmid was a force at the net with a career-high seven blocks.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Just like Friday night, Spring Arbor fought its way back to a 2-sets-to-1 lead after dropping the opener, but the Cougars were unable to close out the match against Saint Francis.
- Ritz posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Kyara Black had nine kills and a .483 hitting percentage while also recording nine blocks.
- Notter finished with 24 assists and a career-high 16 digs to go along with three aces. Porter and Chastain ended the afternoon with 21 and 20 digs, respectively.

Spring Arbor returns to action against Taylor University (13-12, 4-5 CL) in Upland, Indiana on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
